2021 Police Brutality Statement

George Floyd Memorial
Say Our Names

We are requesting that Attorney General Keith Ellison reopen all police involved murders in Minnesota to bring justice to victims and their families

The Disability Caucus of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party is firmly opposed to police brutality, which disproportionately impacts BIPOC, LGBTQIA and disability communities. Fifty percent of police brutality is against people with disabilities, including the deaf, mentally ill and autistic communities and many others, as well as many of whom are also BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA. We are committed to addressing this systemic violence perpetrated by our government. We are in solidarity with victims and families and will honor them by practicing allyship.

This commitment relates to our diversity statement and our allegiance to intersectionality. We seek to partner and act with other caucuses, communities and groups to achieve greater humanity in our society.

We are requesting that Attorney General Keith Ellison reopen all police involved murders in Minnesota to bring justice to victims and their families.

BLM – George Floyd Remembrance in Minneapolis

On Tuesday, May 25th (in Minneapolis): We’re celebrating our Blackness through Black culture, art, history, and more — all while supporting our local businesses with a food truck and vendor station. There will be musical performances, special guests, and most importantly — it’ll be a beautiful day of celebration honoring George Floyd. Here’s the official event page with more details.
